Coastal Moving Services (Poor Customer Experience)

I am submitting this to document my extremely poor experience with Coastal Moving Services and to warn others considering using this company. There has not been a single aspect of this process that has gone well. Moving is already a stressful experience, and this company turned it into an absolute nightmare.

The issues began immediately before pickup. The day prior, I was given a scheduled pickup window of 2–4 PM. However, the moving team arrived the following morning at 10 AM because, according to them, my move was their “last job for the day.” Unfortunately, I allowed the early arrival even though it disrupted my schedule. I work from home and did not have dedicated time set aside to supervise the entire move.

While the movers were finishing up, I was on a work call. They asked me to sign the paperwork, which I did so I could return to work. About thirty minutes later, when I was finally able to go downstairs to my basement, I discovered that they had left several items behind.

I immediately called the driver, who did not answer. I then contacted customer service and was told that I had gone “over on space” and that I had already signed off on the shipment. I reminded them that when I initially booked the move, I was told the space estimate was only an estimate and that if there were any overages, the cost would simply be adjusted accordingly. The items left behind were clearly not related to any space overage—they were simply forgotten.

After pushing the issue, customer service said they would see if the movers could return another day to collect the remaining items. The driver contacted me asking for a photo of the items left behind, which I sent immediately. No one ever followed up, and no time was scheduled for pickup.

Next, I was asked for the earliest possible delivery date for my shipment. I said Saturday, which they told me was the earliest available option. When Saturday came, no one contacted me. When I reached out to customer service, I discovered another major issue: Coastal Moving Services is only a broker, and the representatives I was speaking with had no visibility into where my belongings were or when they would arrive. They said they would have to contact the actual carrier and get back to me. They never did.

I called again on Sunday and received the same runaround with no clear answers. On Monday—a full week after pickup—I finally spoke with someone who claimed my belongings were in the local area and that they were working on scheduling delivery. I believed this was finally a straightforward update. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case.

Nearly another full week passed with no communication whatsoever. When I called again on Thursday, I was met with another unhelpful and arrogant customer service representative who proceeded to lecture me about their process. I was then told that it was “not practical” to expect delivery on the date they themselves suggested as the earliest possible option. Instead, I was told it could take two weeks or more.

As of my last update, my belongings have not even left my home state and are still sitting in their warehouse. I still do not have my items, and I have no clear timeline for when they will arrive.

This experience has been nothing short of atrocious. Coastal Moving Services was quick to take payment for the service, but after that, I was passed off to a customer service team that provides no real service, offers conflicting information, and has no ability to actually help. Each interaction leaves you feeling more helpless than the last.

I strongly urge anyone considering this company to stay far away. The lack of communication, accountability, transparency, and basic customer care has made this one of the worst service experiences I have ever encountered.

Refused returning deposit!!

I requested this company a moving service to the May 13th (20 days ago). They also require a huge amount of money as a deposit (almost 50% of total cost of moving). They claim you can only cancel the moving within 7 days from the moving date. They told me TWO DAYS prior my moving date that they are unable to move on the date requested (May 13th), meanwhile I requested the moving date 20 DAYS AGO. they said they only have the May 12 available, which is Mother’s Day. They claimed they will keep my security deposit and won’t refund me, even though they did that in bad faith.

They don’t even deserve a star! Awful Company and Customer Service

Needed a moving company due to the sale of my mother’s home and having to put her in a nursing home so the stress was a lot. This company made the stress even worse and never once was I told that I had to pay money to the Movers that showed up. I paid $1350 on March 14. They called me the Friday before moving on a Sunday, April 13, told them about one piece of furniture that needed to go. I paid them an additional $375.99. I was called on Saturday and was told the movers would be there in between 9 AM and noon. They then called at 12:30 saying it would be in between 3 PM and 5 PM Never showed during that time. I got hung up on and no return call. Had someone else call on a different number they answered and showed up at 8:40 PM. Mind you my storage unit closed at 10pm. There were three of them that was speaking Spanish around me and told me I would have to pay them cash for moving items in the house based on cubic feet, in which I was not aware of. I was told I would pay the other half when the move was complete. I asked them to leave. They continued to stay parked out in front of my mother‘s home, After 9 o’clock at night.Threw trash in the middle of our street! They even got out and was playing in the street underneath the street lights after politely asking them to leave!! I called the company repeatedly. I received no callbacks the next day from a Christian that I talked to multiple times. I’ve since then disputed the two amounts and have not heard from them since!! horrible customer service, and people in general. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COASTAL MOVERS EVER!!

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Horrible

The first people that I spoke to on the phone were professional and helpful in getting my move in motion. They used S & A movers out of Hoboken, NJ who charged me an extra $600 because they had to down size the truck upon arrival to my new place even after I confirmed with the previous driver that the truck would fit in my apartment complex and confirmed this with the apartment management. They also broke my

Peloton that’s brand new. It was my favorite thing that I begged to please be gentle with and now it’s been almost 2 months I haven’t been able to use it because peloton finally figured out the problem. Forget filing a claim- they make it next to impossible. Don’t use this company! Also, there is a girl in customer service who is extremely belittling and just plain mean. The boy I spoke to mostly in customer service (I want to say his name is Jacob) was professional, nice, and understanding.

Avoid This Company

Avoid this company, which trades under multiple names: Coastal Beginning LLC, USA Home Logistics, and Pack Men USA (MC 992460 / DOT 2936759). They orchestrated my interstate move and the experience was horrendous. They held my possessions hostage to extract additional payment, many items arrived damaged or missing, and absolutely no care was taken with any of my belongings. I was overcharged by more than $1,100 and subjected to false threats and intimidation in an attempt to bully me into paying more. Do not trust them and DO NOT USE THEM!

Horrible service

Inventory was reduced but the price was not(in factor increased). Movers were 5 hours late. When movers arrived at the house, they only placed furniture in the house but did not help arrange. I recently had hip surgery and needed more help than was provided. Tried to have someone call me back, but they never did. Horrible service.

Don't become fools by booking your move with this Coastal Moving Group.

Guys, don't book your move with this Coastal moving group. This CMG company gives the contract to third party moving company (for our move it was with Revolution Moving Systems). We might get attracted with the small quotes which they offer initially but later on they'll say some reason and they'll increase the quote value (Not in hundreds of dollars but in thousands). Even though if we agree for that amount also we don't get our items safely shipped. They'll steal the costly items and doesn't respond properly when we enquire about those. The guys who come for pickup are very bad in packing the items. They don't use proper material to pack the items. If we raise any doubt they'll just simply say one thing like ''We'll be doing this work daily and we are clearly aware of how to pack the items."

These people are such irresponsible that they don't even check whether they loaded all the items from the warehouse into the truck correctly. Even that driver clearly stated to me that they didn't load few items from their warehouse into the truck and he marked the same in the household goods delivery inventory list as well. But still they're so confident that they can deliver the items even though many items are missing. When they came for the delivery they demanded us to pay the money first inorder to download our items.

Finally when my things got downloaded, all the items which we packed on our own came safely and the items which this company guys packed came totally broken and many costly items are missed.

I lost almost half of my valuable important stuff by booking a move with this CMG. I'm missing my 65" Samsung LED TV and 6 big boxes which is containing all my valuable stuff and one luggage bag which is containing all my costly traditional Wedding wear. All my items are broken and all of my furniture is broken and got chipped off. I lost all of my lifetime memorable things within one move by this company :-( :-( :-(

I would never ever refer this company to any of my friends and relatives.

The worst moving company ever.

Mr. Chris Parker at Coastal Moving Group told me they had their own trucks, and they would complete my move. I was quoted a price of $2786.30. The day of the move they increased the price of the move by $1100 and handed my move off to another company. I have much difficulty of getting them arrange a date to deliver my belongings. They arrived about two months later with several broken items. I called the office several time, each time, they would lie, or say no one is available.

Long-distance move from Plymouth, MA to Albuquerque, NM

Liars, umbrella group, no help after problems.

My disappointment and upset cannot be overstated. I did my due diligence when searching for a mover of my stuff from storage in MA to NM. I specifically asked each company (7 in total) that they were the only company handling my things, because I didn't want to end up have to file claims /solve problems with more than one company. After asking Coastal several times about this, their agent absolutely lied and stated that the admin, movers, storage etc was their private company. Of course after the fact when the problems started I found out they are only an umbrella company. Had I known this I would have gone with someone else. There were also issues with when the truck was weighed and the actual weight of the goods.

I find it strange that a couple of movers can look at a load and state its exact weight at the moving location without doing a scale weight. then when the truck is weighed (not the same date and out of state) that the weight was exactly the same as the visual estimate to the pound.

There quote they provided was 50% of the total cost and was completely underestimated, leaving me agast at the final costs. They charged me a different rate (%=$0.75/lb ) for the weight overage and state they will only reimburse for lost goods at $0.10/lb) So I paid $375 for good that they lost and they will only reimburse for $50, and not the goods themselves.

The movers (Century Moving, NJ) lost 500 lbs of my stuff in the week that they had it after picking up and moving it into storage and then into another truck for delivery. Coastal has been unresponsive and Century isn't much better. Now I'm supposed to provide a comprehensive claim to a third party. I cannot even tell you want exactly was in many of the boxes and there is no way I can account for the clothing lost either.

I placed 2 calls about the missing goods within 10 days of the arrival. I was promised a call back. At 90 days, I called back again only to be told. the notes say they couldn't find my boxes. No one even attempted to call me. I've escalated this up the change of command, but I don't feel confident. Because of the handling of this, I may very well, dismiss arbitration and go right to an attorney in the family.

We purchased over 60 plastic bins for storage and moving knowing we needed the extra protection. Move than 2 dozen of these bins were broken beyond use or resell. Boxes and bins were crushed. I've had to spend over 15 hrs photographing and documenting the damage.

Do not use these movers unless you want to lose your things and have your stuff broken.

Dont feel taken care of at all. They lost my things, they overcharged me, they are unresponsive.

Complete rip-off! They are just a broker and use sub-contractors, who immediately jack-up the price and tell you it will take longer. Their main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible. I wished I had seen these reviews earlier. Don't get sucked in!

Stress-free Moving Company.

Let's just start with putting your name and phone number online to get an online estimate was a lot to take in. Calls came in from everywhere and non stop.

Coastal Moving was the first to call so naturally I answered the phone, during that call I had one 800 number call me so many times I was having trouble speaking with the moving coordinator, "Cody". He gave me the best advice ever by simply saying to answer the phone and let them know "I wasn't moving." The calls stopped immediately.

We went over a very thorough list of everything I was moving, 4 bedroom house, and within a few minutes of discussing when the truck would need to arrive I was able to get an amazing rate. Thousands less then a previous move! When I told him I needed to speak to my fiancé before spending this kind of money there was no pressure, he being married actually encouraged me to talk everything over with her first. We set an appointment to speak again the next day.

When I called back ready to pay for the move I was informed only a deposit was due at the time of booking and the remaining balance was even split into two separate payments, which to my surprise was the best news as it is not cheap to move. We went over every detail of the move and it was very simple and clear to understand.

Now getting close to the move my fiancé and I started getting a bit nervous, obviously. We received a call from a Quality Assurance specialist about 5 days before we were scheduled to be moved. We went over all of the details of the move: phone number, addresses and inventory going on the truck, lets just say this guy knew exactly what we needed. We had missed so many things from our original estimate that we had just over looked and of course having 90% of our home in boxes at this point realized our count was way under! He adjusted our initial deposit to accommodate for the additional space we required in the truck and informed us of the new total.

Now when the truck arrived it was a crew of three men, at first they were quiet and just came in to breakdown our furniture and started blanketing our stuff to be placed on the truck. These three guys must've been working with each other for years, they had the funniest stories to tell us about all the homes they've seen and everywhere they've moved them to.

The delivery of our home went just as smooth as the pickup, we had labeled all of our boxes with what rooms they belonged in and the guys didn't even blink an eye to reassembling all of our furniture exactly where we asked and placed all of the boxes accordingly.

These guys made everything so stress free it was worth every penny. We actually recommended them to my cousin who was moving half way across the country and she is currently en route to her new home! Everything went so smoothly.

Absolutely The Worst Moving Experience Imaginable.

I usually am not one to post on social media or reviews bashing a company for poor service but this is a circumstance where I simply don't want anyone else to have to experience what I went through during my move. I had a set moving window that was agreed upon, I flew back to the area to make this window. The communication between them was horrendous I was told multiple times that I would receive a call as to a time frame when pickup would happen. This was not the case I called multiple times requesting call back and more info only to be lead astray. The pickup window was not upheld and when I did receive a call back it was to only tell me that it would be a week later for pickup. I had to fly back home to work the entire next week. They informed me again that I would receive a call 24-48 hours from pickup date. I AGAIN never received notification. I myself had to call and inquire on what was going on. I finally received a call at 10:00 PM stating they would arrive between 9:00 AM and 11AM the next morning. My wife "who was approximately 2 HRS away" left at 6:00 AM to make it there and have the home ready for the movers. The movers never showed. Called multiple times for updates only to be told "We're checking on it we will call back" they never called back I finally heard word that they wouldn't be showing up until 6:00 PM That Evening. Moving truck showed up with entirely wrong paperwork and estimate requesting that we pay that amount before they would load anything. I called the dispatch manager Eli the dispatch manager called. I informed him of the previous issues hes answer Quote "Well it's not our fault you're in the middle of Kansas it's not an easy place to get to, you should have been in Kansas city or
something." An absolutely unacceptable response. Long and short of it I was ready to cancel the move and do it on my own. Coastal is extremely unprofessional and simply should not be doing any sort of business with the public.

Awesome People.

Coastal Moving Group was INCREDIBLE! My wife and I moved From Mass to Florida, we got several quotes and my personal moving coordinator , CODY went the extra mile! He was spot on with my estimate, he made sure there weren't any surprises, gave me enough cushion so I wouldn't be charged more on my estimate, even gave me a call after my move to make sure everything went smoothly. I gotta say I have never received this type of customer service in the moving scene ever! They made sure to handle any and all issues for me and were the liaison between me and the driver. In the past, I used a company that the drivers were rude, foul mouthed, uncaring, about my items, the other companies didn't care as long as they got paid, but Coastal Moving Group made sure I didn't have to deal with anyone else. Thank goodness I used them, my move was so much less than the huge companies quoted, and much more personable TRUST ME there are a lot of bad movers out there, we have had to move quite a few times because of work. The best part of my experience is that Coastal Moving Group sent my wife a mother's day card and put the biggest smile on her face! We received it yesterday. That was very kind of your team to hand write a mothers day card and say thank you, it is few and far between anymore. We appreciate everything!

Long-distance move from Nevada to Oklahoma

We move all the Time Military Family!

I have my own small company I travel for work and have my office in my home we had to move from NV to OK because my husband is in the military. The military always moves our stuff, but last time we moved a lot of thing ended up broken and I didn't want that to happen again so we got with coastal moving group and went step by step on how the processes works on them moving our house hold stuff. I am very happy with the staff and Blake took the time to explain it all to me. They gave me a quote on how many days it would take for my house to be moved, it was much faster then the military too. Moving is always a stressful time for anyone but when everything was said done and in my new house I am so happy that I went with this company. I am hoping I don't have to moving again any time soon But if I do I am calling them to move my life.

Efficient and fast.

I recently just moved back to West Palm from New Jersey where I was for work. Coastal was very polite and helped me with all my questions and kept in contact with me throughout the whole process. The movers were fast, efficient, polite and professional. I was able to keep in contact with the driver throughout the transit of my personal belongings and he was very efficient on letting me know about any possible delays due to the crazy weather we had in the north. They yet still arrived on time and showed the same professional attitude that they had when the picked my stuff up. I would recommend them to all my friends and family, if I ever have to do a long distance move again I will be calling them first!

Long-distance move from Ann Arbor, MI to Avon Park, FL

Moving From Michigan to Florida.

My move from Ann Arbor, MI to Avon Park, FL in July 2017 has been exasperating and frustrating. They contract out their trucks so one team picked up and another delivered. I am missing six items that include an under the bed shoe storage that contain shoes that can't be replaced, black antique piano stool, Ricca vacuum cleaner, an 8 ft. x 5. ft. Native American rug, black floor lamp and desk chair. I have called the company who scheduled the trucks and they said they would look for my missing items because they think they might be in the Chicago warehouse where they must have unloaded the truck with my items but nothing has been resolved. I even have a claim number. They are not returning my phone calls and I have been left on hold for 20 minutes. Upon receiving my furniture I was told that I was overweight and owed them another $647.20. The total move cost me $3,665.33 and was not worth the missing, broken, damaged and lost or stolen items. I am still very upset about this and also the fact that no one has really tried to help me in trying to locate my things. I even sent a list of the missing items and pictures of all the damage including broken antique bowls from family members, broken leg on armoire, broken trim on curio cabinet, etc. I still have all the broken dishes, pictures of damaged furniture and damaged boxes for inspection.
Next time I move I will rent a U-Haul truck or use a POD where all of my things will be in one place and not moved from one truck to another. They don't seem to be organized and are very careless. I paid them to move me not lose my belongings. I have already contacted an attorney.

DO NOT book your move with Coastal Moving Group.

DO NOT book your move with Coastal Moving Group under any circumstance. Coastal Moving Group may seem like a good option, because their representatives are so fast to respond to your initial request for movers. Don’t be fooled-they’ll only pay attention to you when they’re trying to get your money. In fact, if you’re reading this review after having paid their initial fee, do yourself a favor and cancel within their 72 hour grace period. Trust me-it’s for the best.

This company provided no benefit to me, and caused me and my husband a lot of stress and inconvenience. Their disorganization and utter callousness made my eighth month of pregnancy a living nightmare. Here are some things you should know about Coastal Moving Group:

1) Coastal Moving Group does not actually participate in your move, and will give you no say in who will actually move your belongings. Instead, they will book your moving contract with another company, and then ignore you. In my case, they picked a company that was rated F by the better business bureau, which I would never have selected on my own based on their rating. I left several phone messages with Coastal Moving Group trying to discuss their “carrier” selection with a human being, but no one ever called me back. This speaks to their unwillingness to discuss their service with their customers, unless they’re trying to get your money.
2) Coastal Moving Group does not provide an accurate estimate of the costs of the moving service-you will pay a lot more than expected in the end. I found out after booking with their company that it is best practice for a moving company representative to visit your home to prepare an accurate set of moving costs. Instead, Coastal Moving Group prepared one over the phone. When the actual movers arrived, they packed all our things in their truck and THEN told us that our actual moving costs should be double the original estimate (SURPRISE!). Since our apartment’s lease ended the next morning, and our stuff was already in their truck after hours of packing, did we really have a reasonable response other than to pay the increased price??
3) Coastal Moving Group did not tell us how to fill out the moving company’s form to have our belongings shipped in any reasonable amount of time. On the mover’s sheet, there was a box labelled “first available delivery date”. When our belongings were picked up on August 9th, we put the first day we would be available in our new city to receive our belongings, like any reasonable person would (August 28th). Coastal Moving Group waited until 2 days after we filled out the form to inform us that our belongings would be held in the shipping state (in our case, California even though they started in Oregon….), then arrive at the destination WITHIN 5-21 business days AFTER THAT. Yup-you read that correctly. For my eighth month of pregnancy, we slept on an air mattress, with no dishes, microwave or coffee maker, and nothing to do in our new apartment in a new city where we didn’t know anyone. The company that Coastal Moving Group hired as our “carrier” turned around and booked movers from A DIFFERENT COMPANY to pick them up. That’s right-Coastal Moving Group hired a carrier moving company to move our belongings, who in turn is actively trying to hire someone else to do the job (we had zero say in selecting either company). Where is the accountability?? Who is responsible for our stuff? Not even we know…
4) Coastal Moving Group truly does not care if or when your belongings arrive, and will do nothing to help you learn where they are, when they will be shipped, or when they will arrive. After they received their money, the very rare time that they answered their phone, they told me they didn’t know anything, wouldn’t help me, and that I should phone the carrier directly instead. The owner of the carrier moving company answered my phone calls about once a week, and always said the same thing “I think a truck with some movers is coming soon, I’ll give you an update, call me tomorrow”, but never gave any updates or answered my follow up phone calls. When I explained this to a Coastal Moving Group representative on the phone, they told me they could do nothing, and told me to keep calling the owner and that eventually he would answer the phone. Our belongings finally began moving from L.A. to Massachusetts the day they were required to be delivered by law (Sept. 26th), and arrived on Oct. 4th. Coastal Moving Group did not offer to compensate us in anyway for their extremely late delivery, and their poor customer service.

In Summary: Coastal Moving Group will give you an unrealistically low estimate for your moving costs, while initially seeming very responsive to your phone calls. After the 3 day grace period, you’ll find out that they selected a low-quality carrier to actually move your belongings, give you belated instructions on how to fill out forms related to the move, ignore most of your phone calls, and brush off any questions or concerns you have your move. Do NOT accept a contract with Coastal Moving Group under any circumstance.

We are incredibly sorry for your frustrations. Can I have you job number? We would be happy to address any issues you are experiencing. During our estimate, they said it would take 5-8 days to move our stuff from Chicago to Texas. They said they would give themselves a 2-day window to get our stuff out of our Chicago home and they were supposed to be there on June 27th or 28th, and have us out by the 29th. They did not show up until 7 p.m. on the 28th, and left at 9 p.m. because they were tired. The job was only 1/3 of the way done. This caused all of our cleaning to be canceled and we ended up staying all night at the house taking apart beds and moving all of the boxes downstairs (which was there job!) They promised to be there at 8 a.m. the next morning and didn’t show up until 11 a.m. which made us miss our 10 a.m. deadline of our final house inspection. They didn’t finish the job until 3 p.m. and we had to sit outside in the summer heat with a toddler and newborn twins because we had nowhere to go and we couldn’t leave because we had to wait for them to get ahold of their manager on the phone (who micromanaged everything, but doesn’t seem to know what’s going on).
We made our drive to Texas and had to hurry to meet the 5-8-day deadline so we would be here in time to open the house for the movers. It has now been 20 days and we have called the moving company multiple times a day and talked to multiple managers and they have no idea where the truck is. They keep promising that the truck will be here and they never show up. We have asked for calls back multiple times and they never call us back, and never keep up there promises. We keep asking for a weight of the truck so we know how much money to get a money order for, and they never call us back. They don’t communicate with their customers, or their employees. They never know where the drivers are and they give us the excuse that they are “busy” I don’t care if you are “busy,” don’t make promises you can’t keep and don’t try to run a business with false advertisement.
So here we sit in an empty house with a toddler and newborn twins. We have no cribs, no beds or mattresses or cooking or cleaning supplies. We also do not have our washer and dryer to clean our clothes (newborns are messy!) Our preemie newborns have slept on the CEMENT FLOOR since we have moved here. We were promised to have our stuff and we have not seen it or heard from the company. We have asked several times for a discount and all we get is an “I’m sorry” This is completely ridiculous and this company should be put out of business. I can’t believe a moving company could be so terrible. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Official company response

Good Afternoon Heather, in your attempt to slander our name on every social media website, we have received your message loud and clear. We are sorry for any inconveniences you experienced with the carrier. You mention that during your estimate you were told 5-8 days for delivery, all of our calls in the estimating department are recorded and I have reviewed your call specifically for further clarification. Your husband requested free 30 day storage at the time of booking. We also have documented emails and phone calls for further verification on your account. We sent an email to your husbands email so you know exactly what to expect for delivery. This was also outlined via recorded conversations and in our contract which was e-signed on 3 separate occasions with your husbands IP address.
06/27/2017 @ 1:54PM
06/25/2017 @ 2:00PM
05/24/2017 @ 5:47PM
Below is the email we sent after pick up.
I have also put quotation marks around your comments and concerns.
Thank you for choosing Coastal Moving Group. This is a friendly reminder to let you know what to expect now that your Pickup has been completed. Please remember the drivers are on real roads in real trucks and have guidelines to follow with regards to DOT regulations. We want them and your belongings arriving safely. We try to take care all of our clients as VIPs, so it is important that we take the proper measures so your items come to you safely and securely and in a time frame you expect.
Below are estimated Delivery time frame windows:
0 - 500 miles 2 – 5 Business days
500 – 1500 miles 3 – 14 Business days
1500 – 2500 miles 4 – 17 Business days
2500 – 3500 miles 5 – 21 Business days
Delivery Dates are estimated and based on mileage, routing, and fluctuate due to traffic, weather, and other unforeseen delays. If you sign for a FIRST AVAILABLE DELIVERY DATE (F.A.D.D.), this means your belongings will be kept in the state of origin and the delivery process will not begin until that day. This is a great option if you aren't available for the normal estimated delivery windows provided above. Please remember, if the estimated windows provided above are realistic for you and your move, let the driver know your F.A.D.D. is the date of pick up (immediate). As per DOT Law all deliveries are required to be completed with in 21 business days of the First Available Delivery Date. (F.A.D.D.).
“They said they would give themselves a 2-day window to get our stuff out of our Chicago home and they were supposed to be there on June 27th or 28th, and have us out by the 29th. They did not show up until 7 p.m. on the 28th, and left at 9 p.m. because they were tired. The job was only 1/3 of the way done. “
The movers work extremely hard and this is the busiest time of year, that being said we can't control every element. We try hard to make time in transport and move our customers accordingly. Drivers CANNOT work more than 8 hours in one day or drive more than 500 miles because it isn’t safe for them, you or innocent bystanders, there are regulations for a reason, so your items are safe and peoples lives are safe, this is Per DOT regulations. The drivers are HUMAN and have the right to rest and are actually required to do so. This is the busiest time of year and unfortunately your move was scheduled for the end of the day. It is never our intention to get anyone upset. We have families also, but we literally cannot drive these men any harder than they already work. There are several publications of truckers falling asleep at the wheel from exhaustion and killing people In accidents. We would rather have the drivers safe and your belongings. There is nothing more that we could want than to help you and your family instead of spending countless hours trying to find out when your items will arrive from the CARRIER.
“This caused all of our cleaning to be canceled and we ended up staying all night at the house taking apart beds and moving all of the boxes downstairs (which was there job!) “
The carrier can only reassemble the furniture that they disassemble for insurance purposes. We specifically ask that you make no plans during that week because of unexpected delays.
“They promised to be there at 8 a.m. the next morning and didn’t show up until 11 a.m. which made us miss our 10 a.m. deadline of our final house inspection. “
The movers get paid to move your items in the hot scorching sun, this was unbearable to you for a few hours imagine their 8 hour day moving your items and others. The movers signed up for this kind of job and work very hard to make you happy.
“We made our drive to Texas and had to hurry to meet the 5-8-day deadline so we would be here in time to open the house for the movers. “
We always ask that you communicate with the driver on pick up about delivery, again your frustrations are pointed in the wrong direction.
“It has now been 20 days and we have called the moving company multiple times a day and talked to multiple managers and they have no idea where the truck is. They keep promising that the truck will be here and they never show up. We have asked for calls back multiple times and they never call us back, and never keep up there promises. They never know where the drivers are and they give us the excuse that they are “busy” I don’t care if you are “busy,” don’t make promises you can’t keep and don’t try to run a business with false advertisement.”
Your move was initially scheduled for 30 days of Free Storage! It is listed on the contract. We have also been in communication with the carrier on your behalf, again we have records of this communication and have been conversing with your husband directly on multiple occasions.
“So here we sit in an empty house with a toddler and newborn twins. We have no cribs, no beds or mattresses or cooking or cleaning supplies. We also do not have our washer and dryer to clean our clothes (newborns are messy!) Our preemie newborns have slept on the CEMENT FLOOR since we have moved here. Your family chose to do a piggy back move, we get our movers to do deliveries as quickly as possible, if not that move could cost anywhere from $12,000-$20,000 for a direct and exclusive truck. Our team is working tirelessly with your husband to resolve the issues you have experienced with the carrier. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Florida

Terrible Experience and damaged items.

Moving from CT to FL I booked them and from start to finish was a nightmare. I was passed around to three different representatives, the last one being "on the other line" every time I called and did not call me back. When I first called I told Cody that I wanted to have my house packed and moved for me and for them to handle everything. I never spoke with him again although I left him messages. I was passed finally to Steven who called me back to confirm the inventory list the week before the move. He stated that the order was not for packing and I would have to pack it myself. I readjusted the order with him and agreed to a higher rate to cover packing and a few items I needed to add to the inventory. CMG dispatch called and said they would be there between noon and two the following day and never showed up. When I called Steven he did not call me back and the dispatch center stated they never told me that even though I called the same number they called me on and spoke with a person by the same name! The movers showed up 3 hours later than they stated the following day. They were in an unmarked white moving van and from United Moving. They said CMG outsourced the move to United Moving who showed up without packing supplies and said they would need to use any towels I have to pack the boxes. When I refused and called Steven (to get his voicemail only) they went to buy the supplies and charged me $300 for about $90 in supplies. The packers with United were rude and unprofessional and arguing with each other and I had to contact CMG during the packing because they kept demanding cash from me. They left items from another delivery address at my house and never came back to get them when I called them. During the trip down, I attempted to keep in contact with CMG and was sent to different people in different dispatch centers who called me back with conflicting information about my delivery schedule. When delivered, most of my items were scratched and broken. Items in boxes were just thrown in there. Many boxes were wet and had holes in them. The boxes marked "Fragile" were partially crushed and upside down. Some packing materials were used but I found boxes where they also used my clothing and towels I had packed separately. The delivery arrived a week later than they reported. The ending balance was higher than was listed on the invoice I signed and they again stated I would need that in cash or they would refuse to drop my things off. When I began researching moving companies I did not go with a major company because thrir rates were much higher. By the time this was done with CMG I paid more than if I had taken the locked in quotes with Mayflower or Allied. I am happy to answer any questions and provide information to anyone that finds this review helpful. Moving is such a very exhausting experience and this all made things much more difficult and stressful for me.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Illinois

Dishonest moving company.

They are a brokerage firm that uses other movers to complete jobs. However, they price you out and promise pickup/ delivery dates they know these companies can't honor. They're completely dishonest and will tell you anything you want to hear. They will lie to you and set expectations they cannot meet. Then once you realize what's going on and bring that to their attention they become defensive. Do not not pick this company. You will regret it.

Long-distance move from Jupiter, FL to Calico Rock, AR

Best Move Yet!

I have move quite a few times in the past years due to military relocations. In every move prior, I have encountered unforeseen charges, delays, and a few broken/lost items along the way. This has been the most seamless of them all. It did seam a little daunting when I was originally going through the stuff we were moving. Phil did a really good job of explaining the process, truly. That said, and more than likely due to our number of moves in the past few years we had no issues. My wife did leave off a few boxes she "knew" we didn't have and the table she hated and was going to sell and paid for it, but it was fair from what I was able to see. Kudos my friends they did a great job Phil was fantastic.
